After many years being a red wine drinker and experiencing headaches, I decided to switch to white wine. Trial and error, and many tastings, helped me to arrive at Semillon Sauvignon Blanc. I find this particular wine to be light, dry and refreshing without the resultant headache in the morning! The best wines in this group, from my experience, are produced in New Zealand. Kiwi wines as some call them make for excellent wine gifts I might add.
They invariably have a refreshing palate, a fruity nose (without being too sweet) and a crisp finish. I can thoroughly recommend the Semillon Sauvignon Blanc wines that are produced in the “Land of the Long White Cloud” of “Aotearoa”. They are usually available at a reasonable price, and are a beautiful drink to enjoy at the end of a long, hot summer day. An especially good label to look out for is the wine produced by Cloudy Bay winery in Marlborough, New Zealand. They are definitely worth paying that little bit extra for.
